Background Information

Present Status/Major activities completed during October 2023: KAPP-3: The first largest indigenous 700 MWe Unit started operation at full capacity from August 30, 2023. KAPP-4: A major milestone “Initial Fuel Loading” (IFL) is completed. Generator Transformer Commissioning is completed. Calandria Vault water fill test is completed. Instrumentation and commissioning work of Physical Protection System (PPS) fencing is completed. This will be followed by major critical milestones i.e. approach to First Criticality, First Synchronisation with the grid and finally Commencement of Commercial Operation, all with progressive clearances from AERB. Physical progress of the unit as on end October 2023 is 98.20%. Present Status/Major activities completed during July 2023: KAPP Unit-3: The Unit commenced commercial operation with effect from June 30, 2023. KAPP Unit-4: A Major milestone ‘Turbine Generator (TG) on Barring Gear’ has been achieved. Final box-up of Condensers is completed. Various commissioning activities are in progress. This will be followed by major critical milestones i.e. Fuel loading, approach to First Criticality, First Synchronisation with the grid and finally Commencement of Commercial Operation, all with progressive clearances from AERB. Physical progress of the unit as on end July 2023 is 97.56%.
