Background Information

• All units commissioned as under: ¿ DHDT: 9.06.10 ¿ HGU: 20.05.10 ¿ SRU: 30.06.10 ¿ ISOM : 18.07.10 ¿ VGO-HDT: 25.11.10 ¿ Coker: 21.03.11 ¿ Other facilities completed and commissioned: •Coker plant commissioned in record time Asia’s single largest Coker unit of 3.7 MMTPA capacity with drum size of 9.8 meter dia. was commissioned smoothly & safely in record time of 39 months 10 days, making this a fastest executed Coker unit. The earlier IOC benchmark was 52.5 months. With the commissioning of Coker Unit, all facilities under Residue Upgradation Project have been completed. •Some of the special features of the plant are:- ¿ IOCL largest single pour of 3200 cum Concrete was achieved for Coke Drum’s foundation ¿ Global highest pressure (358.43 kg/cm2) coke cutting pump supplied by M/s Flowserve, USA has been utilized in Coke cutting system ¿ Fully automated Heading and De-heading Device supplied by M/s Zimmermann & Jansen, Germany has been used. ¿ 4 nos Coke Drums of 9.8 meter diameter, 42.9 meter height & each weighing 537 Tonnes are the largest Coke Drums in country and equivalent to Global largest. These drums were fabricated by L&T at site. Crane of 1250 Tonne capacity was used to erect these drums. • Strategies adopted: ¿ Purchase order for Coke Drums was placed much in advance based on preliminary process package and Coke Drums were made ready in May’09 at site for erection, even before the Coke Drum foundations which were made ready in Jun’09. ¿ Advance planning was made for design & concrete mix of piles of 1 meter dia for Coke Drum area to save time. ¿ Erection Plan of Coke Drums along with Kelly structure was finalised in advance to save the erection time and erection was carried out safely with the help of 1250 MT crane with jib arrangement. Total structure was fabricated in modular form which was erected with ease in shortest possible time. ¿ Order for Coke Cutting system, Heading De-heading system was placed in advance and it was ensured that the same is erected as per planned schedule ¿ WGC was ordered in advance & as a result, despite the delay of 17 months in supply of compressor by BHEL, the unit could be commissioned in record time.
